ENERGY MINISTRY: HUNGARY ELECTRIC CAR PURCHASES SEE 3RD STEEPEST GROWTH IN EUROPE IN JUNE

 

The number of green cars grew by an annual 123.8% to 864 in June, the third steepest climb in Europe, the energy ministry said on Facebook on Thursday. Citing data compiled by European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), the ministry said the number of new passenger car registrations in Hungary rose by 23.9% year-on-year to 11,724 in June. Hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 44% of sales, cars with petrol engines made up 35% and vehicles with diesel engines 14%. Fully-electric vehicles accounted for 7% of sales. In January-June, new car registrations in Hungary rose by 11.9% year-on-year to 63,337.
