China’s Eve Power has started recruiting for a 400 billion forint (EUR 1bn) battery plant it expects to complete in Debrecen, in eastern Hungary, by the end of 2025, the PR company for the project said on Monday. Eve Power has set up recruitment centres in Hungary’s second largest city and in Budapest. It earlier signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Debrecen extending to the areas of HR training, a scholarship programme, joint R+D and the establishment of a battery research institute. The company broke ground for the battery plant in Debrecen, its first in Europe, at the end of 2023. The first production line is set to start in 2026. The company plans to employ 1,000 people.
