ORBÁN GREETS JEWS ON ROSH HASHANAH

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has greeted “our Jewish compatriots” on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, the prime minister’s press chief said on Friday. Orbán’s letter delivered to the heads of Hungarian Jewish organisations said that it would “not be hard to bid farewell to the fraught year behind us” and to look to the year ahead with “fresh goals, plans, and faith in a more peaceful and calm future”. The prime minister said he trusted that “the tones of the shofar” would make for an uplifting holiday and honey cake would “sweeten the New Year”.
