Agricultural ties between Hungary and Uzbekistan are “continuously strengthening”, Agriculture Minister István Nagy said after meeting Aziz Voitov, his Uzbek counterpart, in Samarkand on Wednesday. Nagy said Hungarian and Uzbek companies were in an “active and dynamic” communication. The minister said both countries saw food security as a priority while also seeking joint answers to challenges posed by climate change and frequent droughts. Irrigation systems in the region could be modernised with the help of Hungarian experts, he said. Another focus was scientific cooperation, of which student and researcher exchange is a good tool, he said. He said the two countries should cooperate not only in higher education but at the high school level, too.
