Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Saturday wrote to his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, to convey his condolences and sympathy to the relatives of the victims of the devastating floods in northern Italy, the prime minister’s press chief, Bertalan Havasi, said in a statement. The floods have claimed numerous lives and deprived tens of thousands of people of their homes, Orbán noted, wishing those harmed by the floods a speedy recovery. He assured the Italian prime minister of the staunch support of the Hungarian nation “during these tragic days”, and he offered Hungary’s help in searching for and rescuing the missing, and in clearing up the damage, the statement added.
