GOVT OFFICIAL: HUNGAIRY PROJECT AIMING TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY AT HALF-WAY POINT

HungAIRy LIFE, launched in 2019, aimed at improving air quality, has reached its half-way point, a government official said on Wednesday. Nikoletta Keszthelyi, deputy state secretary for environmental protection at the energy ministry, said 40% of the 8-year project’s total budget of 5.2 billion forints (EUR 14m) comes from Hungarian sources, and it runs emission databases focusing on 10 settlements in 8 regions of the country, as well as schemes aimed at shaping attitudes. Part of the project is the Borrowed Air scheme launched in February targeting primary school pupils, introducing them to information related to air quality and action against air pollution.
