BUDAPEST LISZT FERENC PROMOTED TO FOUR-STAR AIRPORT

Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport has been promoted to a four-start airport to rank among the best in Europe in terms of travel experience, the airport’s operator said on Wednesday. The upgrade of the airport followed a three-day audit of the quality of its services which was conducted in March by international aviation research organisation Skytrax, taking into account five hundred criteria, Budapest Airport said. “This means that, following a number of prestigious awards this year, the gateway to Hungary has been put in the same league with airports such as London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol, Barcelona and Vienna, amongst others,” BA said in a statement. The recognition is a further validation that the series of the 100 billion forints (EUR 267bn) worth of developments implemented over the past four years is appreciated by the traveling public, it said. “The four-star rating is the result of hard work and dedication towards a common goal by the entire airport eco system, of which we can be justly proud,” the statement quoted Kam Jandu, the CEO of BA, as saying. “But we are not stopping here, we are constantly monitoring areas for improvement, and raising quality and service standards will remain a key focus area for Budapest Airport going forward.” BA said in February that the airport had handled 12,205,070 passengers last year, reaching 75% of the record number of passengers in 2019.
