The Hungarian State Opera has announced that it is dedicating its 140th season in 2023-24 to Slavic music, with 14 premieres and 40 works connected to Slavic culture, General Director Szilveszter Ókovács said on Tuesday. Czech composer Antonín Dvořák’s Rusalka and Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov will be on the programme, as will a concert performance by tenor Plácido Domingo and soprano Anna Netrebko, Ókovács said. The house orchestra’s concerts will also focus on Slavic composers, he added. The season will start with two guest performances on Sept. 9 and 10, he said.
