Preliminary data show that 7,398 children were born and 11,342 people died in January, with the number of live births decreasing by 3.4% and deaths by 14% between February 2022 and January 2023 compared with the same period a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. The natural population loss was 3,944 in January this year as against 6,591 in January 2022, KSH said. In January 2023, 1,230 couples tied the knot, down 45% from January 2022.
