FIRE EXTINGUISHED AT BUDAPEST HOSPITAL

A fire was extinguished at Szent Imre Hospital in the capital on Sunday.
The fire started in the hospital’s emergency detoxification unit, burning an area of around 50sqm on the ground floor and causing smoke and heat damage to about 100sqm, Metropolitan Catastrophe Protection Directorate spokesman Máté Kisdi said. More than 70 firefighters arrived at the scene with 18 vehicles, he added. A young woman died in the blaze and three people were treated for smoke inhalation, National Ambulance Service spokesman Pál Győrfi told MTI.
Visiting the scene, Minister of Human Resources Miklós Kásler said the priority after ensuring the safety of patients would be to immediately reorganise emergency room care in the capital.
Hospital director Róbert Bedros said the damage caused by the fire is being assessed.
