SZIJJÁRTÓ: HUNGARIAN DIPLOMATS 'NOT ALLOWED' TO HELP FANS AT MUNICH ARENA

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has called it an “unprecedented gesture” that Bavarian authorities “have refused to give permission for the presence of Hungarian consuls” at the stadium in Munich where a Germany-Hungary football match is to be played on Wednesday night. Consuls are to assist citizens staying abroad, Szijjártó said on Facebook, adding that he had instructed staff at the Hungarian consulate general in Munich to “provide continuous information” in connection with the football event.
Hungarian consuls were called to intervene twice earlier on Wednesday, when a bus with Hungarian fans was stopped once by customs officers and for a second time by the police, the minister said. He insisted that the German authorities had “only released the bus thanks to the firm stance of (Hungarian) consuls”.
