The city of Debrecen, in eastern Hungary, will submit a bid for UNESCO’s City of Literature title, Mayor László Papp told a press conference. A successful bid would give the city an opportunity to showcase its history and cultural values, he said. Applicants have until June 30 to submit their bids, while UNESCO will announce the winner in late October.
