JOBBIK CALLS FOR APPOINTMENT OF INTERNET OMBUDSMAN

Opposition Jobbik has called for the appointment of an internet ombudsman with a view to protecting those who face threats of harassment, blackmail or other harm online. People’s personal data and rights should not be handled and enforced by algorithms, Jobbik lawmaker Koloman Brenner told an online press conference on Tuesday. He argued that people should have the option of turning to an internet ombudsman who could take immediate action in their defence. Brenner added that the ruling Fidesz majority in parliament’s justice committee on Tuesday refused to allow the proposal to be put before parliament.
