HI-RES X-RAY IMAGE SENT THROUGH VODAFONE'S 5G NETWORK

A Hungarian electrical engineering student has become the first in the country to send a high-resolution X-ray image electronically through a 5G network with the support of medical device producer Innomed Medical, Vodafone and the Hungarian media authority NMHH. The innovative data transfer initiated by Róbert Varga of Győr’s Széchenyi István University is set to open up “new horizons” in distance diagnostics, Innomed president Endre Dévai told a press conference. Dévai called Varga’s project “vital” for the quick medical analysis of X-ray images. Janka Aranyos Börcs, the director-general of NMHH, noted that 5G mobile networks are capable of transferring data at speeds that had not been possible until now. Varga said the time saved by being able to transfer large files almost immediately could end up saving lives.
