TRADE VOLUME CONTRACTS AT SLIGHTLY FASTER RATE IN JULY

Declines in Hungary’s exports and imports accelerated slightly in July from the previous month, but remained in the single digits as the pandemic continued to impact trade, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show. Exports fell by an annual 5.6% to 8.509 billion euros and imports were down 7.7% at 8.247 billion. The declines in exports and imports compared with drops of 3.2% and 5.1%, respectively, in June. Hungary’s trade surplus came to 262 million euros in July, widening from 78 million in the same month a year earlier.
