Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó praised Hungarian-Kenyan relations as “unprecedentedly active”, after talks with his former Kenyan counterpart, Amina C. Mohamed, by phone after arriving in Tashkent on an official visit. The volume of bilateral trade has increased by 50% this year and 800 young Kenyans are competing for the 100 scholarships offered by Hungary, he said in a Facebook entry. “We supported Amina Mohamed’s candidacy for WTO chief. She is a good candidate!” Szijjártó said about the Kenyan politician who is currently serving as cabinet secretary for sports, culture and heritage. “Hungary supported Kenya’s membership in the United Nations’ Security Council as a country that has played an important role in combatting terrorism and extremism”, Szijjártó said.
