FIVE PROSECUTED FOR WEARING HUNGARIAN GUARD UNIFORMS AT HORTHY COMMEMORATION

The Public Prosecutor’s office has brought charges against four men and a woman who in March attended an event in the uniform of the Hungarian Guard, a far-right organisation now banned in Hungary. Public Prosecutor Tibor Ibolya said that the five had attended an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of Miklós Horthy’s election as regent. According to the charges, the accused had violated the law on the right of assembly which bans military-type clothing from assemblies if they “convey violence or intimidation”.
