Tamás Kovács, Hungary’s chief public prosecutor between 2006 and 2010, has died at 78, the Prosecutor’s Office told MTI. Kovács started his career in 1986 as a military prosecutor in Szeged, southern Hungary, the statement said. He was appointed chief military prosecutor and deputy public prosecutor in 1990, and chief prosecutor in 2006. He held that position until he retired in 2010. Kovács received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, Middle Cross, in 1998.
