Ruling Fidesz communications director István Hollik will initiate in parliament’s immunity committee starting an asset declaration procedure against opposition Democratic Coalition leader Ferenc Gyurcsány this week, daily Magyar Nemzet said. Based on an asset declaration recently submitted by Gyurcsány, daily Világgazdaság calculated that it was unclear what had happened with some 1.1 billion forints (EUR 3.3m) of his assets, Magyar Nemzet said. “Unless we assume that the party leader’s spending was a weekly average of slightly more than 23 million forints during the past four years,” Világgazdaság said. Hollik said last week that Gyurcsány had failed to clarify his “confusing” financial situation.
