MAYOR CANCELS BUDAPEST ASSEMBLY MAY SESSION

Mayor Gergely Karácsony is not convening the regular monthly session of the Budapest Assembly in May in view of the state of emergency imposed due to the coronavirus epidemic, the municipality’s official website said. The March and April meetings were also cancelled. Karácsony will consequently decide on over 50 proposals submitted to the assembly, budapest.hu said. Under the law, the assembly’s rights and responsibilities are vested in the mayor during a state of emergency. Karácsony has pledged to publish and discuss the proposals with the city assembly’s group leaders before making decisions.
