SOCIALISTS DEMAND HUF 700 BN MORE FOR HEALTH CARE

The opposition Socialists on Friday demanded the government increase spending on health care by 700 billion forints (EUR 2bn) and set up a stand-alone health ministry headed by “a competent” minister. Lawmaker Ildikó Borbély Bangó held an online press conference in response to the prime minister’s praise of Human Resources Minister Miklós Kásler for “his historic achievements” during the initial response to the coronavirus epidemic.
Citing health-care experts, Bangó said that several patients had died who were left without proper and timely care and she criticised a government order to free up 36,000 hospital beds for Covid-19 patients.
