The opposition Jobbik party is demanding that MPs debate its proposal to cancel school graduation exams this year and offer students grades based on their performance in school. Deputy party leader Balázs Ander told an online press conference that it was “mad” to hold the exams “at the peak of the virus”. “We don’t want the health of 83,000 students, their parents, grandparents, teachers and school staff to be endangered.” The governments of several countries, including Britain, France, The Netherlands, Austria and Slovakia have already decided that students won’t need to sit the exams, and grades will be offered based on averages in every subject. Students who would rather sit the exam should be offered this option under strict conditions, Ander said.
