FRANCISCAN LEADER THANKS HUNGARY FOR ITS SUPPORT FOR HOLY LAND MUSEUM EXPANSION

Head of the Custody of the Holy Land, Francesco Patton, in a letter to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, thanked Hungary for its help in expanding the Terra Sancta Museum in Jerusalem, the PM’s press chief said. In December, the government granted 66 million forints (EUR 200,000) under the Hungary Helps programme which supports Christian communities and helps to preserve universal Christian heritage, Bertalan Havasi said. Patton expressed thanks for Hungary’s “generous donation” to the Terra Sancta Museum in Jerusalem. “This museum reminds us that we Franciscan monks have been around for nearly eight hundred years, strengthening the Christian presence in the Holy Land and telling a story which goes back to the time when our Saviour, Jesus Christ was born and resurrected,” he wrote in the letter.
