OFFICIAL: BASE WAGE OF HEALTH-CARE PROFESSIONALS UP 14% FROM JAN

Health-care professionals will receive a 14% increase in base wages from January, the state secretary in charge of health care said. The increase is part of a multi-step wage growth scheme that began in 2016, Ildikó Horváth told a press conference. It demonstrates the government’s dedication to expressing an appreciation for workers in health care and to retaining them, she added. In addition to wage increases, improvements will be made to the working environment and accommodation of health-care employees, such as building new hostels for nurses, she said. The increase from January will affect 81,000 professionals and 4,000 paediatric nurses and will be financed from 82 billion forints (EUR 248m), she added.
