Hungary’s three-month rolling average jobless rate was 3.5% in September-November, unchanged from the previous period, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. A year earlier, the unemployment rate was 3.6%. In absolute terms, there were 163,300 unemployed during the period, 300 fewer than in the previous month, but 5,400 fewer than twelve months earlier. The data covers unemployed 15-74 year-olds.
KSH noted that the unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group stood at 13.2%, accounting for more than a quarter of the total. That of 25-54 year-olds was 3% and for the 55-74 age group it was 1.6%. Out-of-work Hungarians spent 10.6 months on average looking for employment during the period, and 30.5% of the unemployed had been seeking work for one year or longer.
Meanwhile, in September-November, the average number of employed rose by 23,000, or 0.5%, to 4,517,000.
