NÉZŐPONT SURVEY: MOMENTUM LEADERSHIP 'MISTAKEN' NOT TO BACK HUNGARIAN CANDIDATES

Altogether 53% of Hungarians surveyed by the Nézőpont Institute say it was unacceptable for politicians at home not to campaign for ethnic Hungarian peers during their campaigns in recent elections in neighbouring countries. Nézőpont said the Momentum Movement’s leadership in particular had committed a “political error” by “putting European federal policy above the interests of the nation”. It said that Momentum had stated preference for Romanian and Slovakian politicians instead of for ethnic Hungarians, and Momentum’s leader, András Fekete-Győr, and its MEP, Anna Donáth, had campaigned for their own allies in Transylvania and Slovakia. “Their tactics flew in the face of the majority of Hungarians,” Nézőpont said, referring to the survey’s findings.
