South Africa has expressed interest in the World Nature and Hunting Expo to be hosted by Hungary in 2021, the state secretary for international communication and relations said after a four-day visit to the country. Zoltán Kovács, who is the government’s commissioner for the event, said that South Africa’s long-standing hunting traditions and its high quality nature management meant the country could play an “essential role” at the expo. On his visit between Monday and Thursday, Kovacs met representatives of the government and of South African companies connected with hunting and nature management. He also held talks with economic players interested in the Hungarian expo, he said. Kovács said he had talks with a director general of the South African environment ministry, leaders of the tourism agency organising South Africa’s promotion, and attended a conference with hunting company representatives.
