SZIJJÁRTÓ: EUROPE'S STRENGTH, COMPETITIVENESS HINGES ON RETURNING TO CHRISTIAN ROOTS

 

Christian culture and morality face many challenges today but Europe can only regain its strength and competitiveness if it returns to its Christian foundations, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in the city of Győr, in north-western Hungary.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Gergely Czuczor Benedictine High School’s refectory, of which he is an alumnus, the minister said Hungary could only stay strong in the face of global changes if it preserved its national identity and retained its historical heritage and Christian roots. “We Hungarians are right to be proud of having been a Christian state for a thousand years as that has played a role in surviving as a state,” Szijjártó said.
