JOBBIK MP FARKAS INDICTED ON CHARGES OF ELECTION FRAUD

Hungary’s central investigating prosecutor has raised charges against Jobbik lawmaker Gergely Farkas for election fraud. In the 2018 general election campaign, Farkas is suspected of having offered to “reimburse the costs” of around 600,000 forints (EUR 1,800) to an opponent, a candidate of the green opposition LMP party, if that candidate dropped out of the race, prosecutors noted in a statement. After parliament suspended Farkas’s immunity in March, he was questioned by prosecutors as a suspect. The lawmaker denies any wrongdoing.
