MINISTERIAL COMMISSIONER MEETS YOUNG URUGAY HUNGARIANS

Péter Szilágyi, commissioner at the Prime Minister’s office in charge of ethnic Hungarian communities, met a group of young ethnic Hungarians from Uruguay in Parliament. “Hungary will stand up for any Hungarians no matter where in the world they may live,” Szilágyi said addressing the group. “Hungary is a small nation, therefore it is crucial that those two and a half million people in the diaspora should stay in touch with the mother country.” Szilágyi also thanked the Hungarian community of Uruguay, a couple thousand people, for their efforts to retain their national traditions “so far away” from the motherland.
