Strengthening cooperation between the Visegrad Group countries and Japan could improve the stability and importance of the four-nation group, Hungary’s finance minister said. Addressing a meeting of Visegrad Four prime ministers and their Japanese counterpart in Bratislava, Mihály Varga said that stronger V4-Japan cooperation would intensify links between these two developed and fast-growing regions in the world. This could also enhance the role of central and eastern European countries in the EU, he added.
The meeting focused on ways to expand economic cooperation, with special regard to opportunities in research and innovation. The future of the EU, migration, the EP elections and responses to global challenges were also discussed.
