GOVT TO SUPPORT HUNGARIAN EDUCATION, CULTURE IN CARPATHIAN BASIN WITH EUR 5 M

 

The government has allocated 1.6 billion forints (EUR 5m) for bids aimed to support diaspora Hungarians with regard to Hungarian-language education and culture in the Carpathian Basin, a senior government official said. Some 1.1 billion forints have been allocated to support Hungarian education and culture in the region, and an additional 500 million forints for Hungarian diaspora communities around the world, Árpád János Potápi, the state secretary for Hungarian communities abroad said. The former scheme aims to help ethnic Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin prosper in their homeland, he said.  The latter allocation is offered for projects around the world to help the preservation of Hungarian culture and language and the deadline for implementation is the end of 2019 also, Potápi said.
