The Budapest regional prosecutor’s office has questioned András Fekete-Győr, the head of the opposition Momentum Movement, in connection with charges brought against him of assaulting police at a demonstration in front of Parliament last December. Fekete-Győr is suspected of throwing a smoke bomb towards the line of policemen protecting the Parliament building at the Dec. 13 demonstration, obstructing their vision and making breathing difficult. The prosecutors’ office acted on complaints filed by the National Office of Investigation and private citizens, the prosecutor general’s office said in a statement. Fekete-Győr has filed a complaint against the charges and refused to cooperate. Assault on public officials is a crime punishable by one to five years in prison, the statement said.
