FARM GATE PRICES UP 4.4% IN NOVEMBER

 

Farm gate prices in Hungary were up by an annual 4.4% in November 2018, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. The price of live animals and animal products fell by 3.1% while crop prices were up 9.1%. Grain prices were up 13% with the price of maize up 6.0% and wheat prices rising by 22%. Fruit prices were down 27% as apple prices dropped by 43% and grape prices fell by 9.0%. The price of vegetables was up 38%. Tomato potato prices rose 12% and onion prices by 69%. Prices of live animals were down 1.3% as pork prices dropped 4.5% and poultry prices rose by 1.0%. In January-November, farm gate prices increased 2.4% year on year as crop prices rose by 5.3% and the price of livestock and animal products was down 2.2%. In the first eleven months vegetable prices were up 15% and fruit prices were down 15%. Egg prices were 5.6% higher.
