MEP SLAMS LEFT WING FOR REVIVING ISSUE OF MIGRANT VISAS

Fidesz MEP Kinga Gál on Thursday slammed the “left wing” for returning the issue of so-called humanitarian migrant visas to the agenda of the European Parliament by citing “procedural errors” in the vote. The pro-migrant majority in the EP “won’t give up” and wants to find a way to “push through” migrant visas, which they present as a humanitarian measure, Gál told MTI by phone.
The Fidesz MEP said that after suffering a defeat, left-wing MEPs asked for the issue to be debated again because some of them had abandoned voting during the process after being led to believe that a result already had been secured. “On this basis, every vote would have to be repeated,” Gál said. The MEPs of the European People’s Party were against holding the debate again but “the pro-migrant majority won”, she said. The EP’s Conference of Delegation Chairs on Thursday decided to send a proposal on the introduction of humanitarian migrant visas to a second vote after it was suggested that the resolution was first rejected due to a procedural error.
