Hungary signs bilateral agreements with Moldova, Tunisia, Namibia, Palestine

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó signed bilateral agreements on diplomatic, educational and scientific cooperation with counterparts from Moldova, Tunisia, Namibia and the Palestinian Authority on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The countries involved are in the sights of Hungarian foreign policy as part of its strategy of opening eastwards, the minister said. One of Hungary’s greatest assets is
its higher education sector, Szijjártó said. Over 3,000 foreign students choose to study in the country with the help of Hungarian government
grants, he said. The bilateral agreement signed with Namibian Foreign Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will offer that possibility to ten Namibian students. The agreement signed with the Palestinian Authority’s Riyad al- Maliki will raise the number of grants for Palestinian students by ten to 60 due to extra demand, he said. Szijjártó also signed bilateral agreements on diplomatic exchange programmes with the foreign minister of Moldova, Tudor Ulianovschi, and his Tunisian counterpart, Khemaies Jhinaoui.
