Ikarus járműtechnika inaugurates HUF 1.2BN expansion

Bus maker Ikarus Járműtechnika inaugurated a 1.2 billion forint expansion at its base in Székesfehérvár, in north-western Hungary. The investment, which broadens the company’s product palette, will create 70 jobs, said owner Gábor Széles. The company was awarded a more than 400 million forints state grant in the framework of the government’s Investment Support for Big Businesses programme, said Finance Minister Mihály Varga. Széles said Ikarus is developing an LNG-fuelled bus at the base in Székesfehérvár. The first prototype of an Ikarus electric bus, produced by a joint venture with China National Logging Corporation (CNLC), will be delivered to Hungary next week, he added.
