Retail sales growth slows to 5.4% in July

Retail sales in Hungary grew by an annual 5.4% in July, slowing from 6.8% in June, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday in a release of a second reading of the data. Calendar year-adjusted data show retail sales were up an annual 5.3% in July. The unadjusted and adjusted figures were the same as the first reading. Adjusted food sales were up 1.9% in July, non-food sales climbed by 9.4%, and fuel sales were up 5.6%. In absolute terms, retail sales came to 996 billion forints in July. In January-July calendar year- adjusted and unadjusted retail sales rose by an annual 6.7%. Adjusted food sales rose by 4%, non-food sales climbed by 9.8%, and fuel sales increased by 7.2%.
